3rd Cavalry Division
The 3rd Cavalry Division was formed at Lugershall September 1914. It was originally formed with two brigades the 6th and 7th. The 8th Cavalry Brigade was formed in Belgium 20 November 1914. At times during the war the division served in the trenches as infantry, each Cavalry Brigade once dismounted formed a dismounted regiment under the command of a Brigadier. The 3rd Cavalry Division served in France and Flanders until the Armistice.
