3rd (Reserve) Bn. Regular. Stayed in the UK and supplied drafts to the Regular Battalions overseas.

1/4th (Horsham) Bn. Territorial Force. 04 Aug 1914 at Horsham attached to the Home Counties Division (44th Div).

2/4th (Horsham) Bn. Territorial Force. Formed at Horsham in Jan 1915 absorbed by the 3/4th Bn in Sep 1915.

3/4th Bn. Territorial Force. Formed at Horsham in Mar 1915. In Sep 1915 absorbed the 2/4th Bn and became the 2/4th Bn. Supplied drafts to the 1/4th Bn.

1/5th (Cinque Ports) Bn. Territorial Force. 04 Aug 1914 at the Drill Hall, Middle Street, Hastings attached to the Home Counties Division (44th Div).

2/5th (Cinque Ports) Bn. Territorial Force. Formed at Hastings in Nov 1914. Absorbed by the 3/5th Bn in Sep 1915.

3/5th Bn. Territorial Force. Formed at Hastings in Jun 1915. In Sep 1915 absorbed the 2/5th Bn and then became the 2/5th Bn. Supplied drafts to the 1/5th Bn.

1/6th (Cyclist) Bn. Territorial Force. 04 Aug 1914 at 18 Montpelier Place, Brighton. Stayed in the UK.

2/6th (Cyclist) Bn. Territorial Force. Formed at Brighton in Nov 1914. Formed a Brigade with the 1/9th Bn Hampshire Regt, 1/25th Bn London Regt and 1/1st Kent Cyclist Bn. They were then converted to Infantry and went to India. The 2/6th Bn Royal Sussex Regt joined the Southern Brigade, 9th (Indian) Division.

3/6th (Cyclist) Bn. Territorial Force. Formed at Purfleet in 1916. Stayed in the UK.

7th (Service) Bn. K1. Formed at Chichester on 12 Aug 1914 in the 36th Brigade, 12th Division.

8th (Service) Bn. K2. Formed at Chichester in Sep 1914 in the 54th Brigade, 18th Division.

9th (Service) Bn. K3. Formed at Chichester in Sep 1914 in the 73rd Brigade, 24th Division.

10th (Reserve) Bn. K4. Formed at Dover in Oct 1914. Stayed in the UK and supplied drafts to the Service Battalions overseas.

11th (Service) (1st South Down) Bn. Locally raised. Formed at Bexhill by Lt Col. Lowther MP. on 07 Sep 1914. Joined the 116th Brigade, 39th Division.

12th (Service) (2nd South Down) Bn. Locally raised. Formed at Bexhill by Lt Col. Lowther MP. on 03 Nov 1914. Joined the 116th Brigade, 39th Division.

13th (Service) (3rd South Down) Bn. Locally raised. Formed at Bexhill by Lt Col. Lowther MP. on 20 Nov 1914. Joined the 116th Brigade, 39th Division.

14th (Reserve) Bn. Locally raised. Formed at Bexhill from the Depot Coys of the 11th, 12th and 13th Bns in Aug 1915. Stayed in the UK and supplied drafts to the 11th, 12th and 13th Bns.

15th Bn. Territorial Force. Formed at Burnham from the 70th Provisional Bn on 01 Jan 1917 in the 215th Brigade, 72nd Division.

16th (Sussex Yeomanry) Bn. Territorial Force. Formed in Egypt from the dismounted Sussex Yeomanry on 03 Jan 1917 in the 230th Brigade, 74th Division.

17th (Service) Bn. Formed in France from the 5th Garrison Guard Bn on 26 May 1918 in the 176th Brigade, 59th Division.

51st Graduated Bn. Formed at Colchester from the 253rd Graduated Bn on 27 Oct 1917 in the 213th Brigade, 71st Division.

52nd Graduated Bn. Formed at Colchester from the 256th Graduated Bn on 27 Oct 1917 in the 214th Brigade, 71st Division.

53rd Young Soldier Bn. Formed at Aldershot from the 97th Young Soldier Bn on 27 Oct 1917.
