1st Dismounted Brigade

Formed in Egypt in Feb 1916 by absorbing the Lowland and Scottish Horse Mounted Brigades. The brigade was on canal defences attached to the 52nd Division and was broken up in Oct 1916.

Mounted Units

 

1/1st Ayrshire Yeomanry. Feb 1916 - 16 Oct 1916. To the 2nd Dismounted Brigade.
1/1st Lanarkshire Yeomanry. Feb 1916 - 16 Oct 1916. To the 2nd Dismounted Brigade.
1/1st Scottish Horse. Feb 1916 - 01 Oct 1916. Amalgamate with the 1/2nd Scottish Horse to form the 13th (Scottish Horse) Bn Black Watch, this Bn then left Egypt and went to Macedonia where it joined the 27th Division.
1/2nd Scottish Horse. Feb 1916 - 01 Oct 1916. Amalgamate with the 1/1st Scottish Horse to form the 13th (Scottish Horse) Bn Black Watch, this Bn then left Egypt and went to Macedonia where it joined the 27th Division.
1/3rd Scottish Horse. Feb 1916 - Oct 1916. Regt split, 1 company to the Lovat's Scouts, the remainder formed the 26th (Scottish Horse) Sqn Machine Gun Corps which remained part of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force.
