Lowland Mounted Brigade

The Eastern Mounted Brigade was a Territorial Force brigade already in existence at the outbreak of the war. At the outbreak of the war it was based at Edinburgh. The brigade remained in Scotland until Sep 1915 when it sailed dismounted for Gallipoli landing here in Oct 1915 and was attached to the 52nd Division. After leaving Gallipoli in Jan 1916 the brigade moved to Mudros and then to Egypt in Feb 1916, it was at this time that the Lowland Mounted Brigade was absorbed by the 1st Dismounted Brigade.
